Workshop on plastic pollution and sustainability at Gheorghe Țițeica National College

On 18 December, a group of 22 enthusiastic students from Gheorghe Țițeica National College took part in a workshop dedicated to plastic pollution and sustainability.

The session began with the screening of two educational documentaries from the series Children Can Save the Planet:

  • Everything is Connected, which highlighted how adopting Zero Waste strategies and sustainable lifestyles can build cleaner, healthier communities.

  • Plastic is Forever, which illustrated the journey of plastic waste from household bins to oceans and its destructive impact on marine ecosystems and human health.Following the screenings, an interactive debate invited students to reflect on the issues raised. Discussions focused on the consequences of single-use plastic, the persistence of microplastics in the environment, and the role of consumers, companies, and authorities in reducing pollution.

Participants were encouraged to design solutions adapted to their own school and community – from awareness campaigns to creative DIY workshops for reusing materials. The activity concluded with a group reflection on individual responsibility: every choice, from buying a plastic bottle to sorting waste correctly, can have a significant impact on the planet.
