On 9 May 2025, the Green YOUth Changemakers project celebrated Europe Day with an inspiring eco-art installation in Karlovo, Bulgaria.
Using plastic caps, the young participants recreated the European Union flag, combining the blue background and yellow stars with eco-messages calling for sustainability and unity.
This activity connected history with the present: on 9 May 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman announced the plan that led to the foundation of today’s European Union. Seventy-five years later, youth honoured this moment by linking European values with environmental protection.
During the event, students also discussed opportunities offered by the European Union for young people, such as Erasmus+, DiscoverEU, and Eurodesk, which open doors to education, training, mobility, and intercultural exchange.
By celebrating Europe Day through eco-art, participants showed that the future of Europe must also be green, with young generations leading the way.
